Kevin J. Lawson, MD-C

Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the Canadian border Dr. Lawson graduated from Medical School in 1983 from the University of Michigan. He went on to complete his Orthopedic Residency training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, which included a prestigious trauma rotation with the AO foundation in Graz Austria. He then entered one year Spinal Surgery Fellowship under the instruction of Arthur Steffee, MD, a pioneer in spinal instrumentation at Lutheran Medical Center which included an additional opportunity for study in Paris France.

Dr. Lawson then served 4 years of active duty service as an orthopedic surgeon in the USAF assigned to Travis AFB. While completing this tour he was deployed to the United Kingdom during the first Gulf war. He also was chosen to serve as Chief of Orthopedics at David Grant Medical Center. Dr. Lawson continues to serve in the Air Force Reserves as an individual mobilization augmentee.

Dr. Lawson practiced Orthopedic Surgery specializing in Spinal Surgery in Redding from 1993 through 2003. He has chosen to return to join SOSM as a Consultant Spine Surgeon. His interests include cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine traumatic & degenerative conditions as well as spinal deformities. Dr. Lawson is experienced with disc replacement and holds several patents on surgical technologies.

Dr. Lawson is board certified by the ABOS, and he is a member of the AMA, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, North American Spine Society, Spine Arthroplasty Society, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society.

Dr. Lawson's interests include family pursuits with his spouse, children, fly fishing, and waterskiing.
